Their facilities were first rate...
Their weight room was unbelievable, easily the nicest one we went to. Utah likes to claim theirs is the nicest, and it is really nice, but Boise’s was absolutely incredible, I was blown away by it.

And the rest of their football facilities, other than their stadium which is just ok, we’re also top notch. Team rooms, film rooms, etc were fantastic.

As for their staff we only spent much time with the offensive coordinator and the recruiting assistants that were our hosts. The offensive coordinator went out of his way to come and see us, mr son specifically. We went there on a Friday game day, got there about 3 hours before the game so I know he was very busy with game prep, but the recruiting assistants told us that he’d asked to be told when we got there and he came out of whatever his meetings were immediately and met with my son and I one on one. Told us that my sons film was very impressive, the best they’d seen and that it really caught them by surprise. But he was honest and told us they’d already offered a 4 star kid from California who was coming the next week and that if he committed they would sign him and they would only sign one QB. He told us that if the other kid did not commit then they would offer my boy because he was second on their board even though they’d only known about him for a few weeks. They did tell us that even if the other kid committed they would take my son as a pwo automatically if he was interested but we told them he had no interest in a That kid committed and that ended it although they still were pretty good to us and called up the coaches at Montana st, which is a really good FCS program in the Big Sky and told them they should offer my son which they did. So our impression of the Boise coaches was a good one since they didn’t have to do that but did all on their own.

We met coach Harshin, although it was only for a couple of minutes, and our impression was good although like I said it was a brief meeting and of course when they’re recruiting a kid they’re all very nice so who knows how it is once they’ve signed.

And I would say that if Boise had actually offered they probably would have been at the top of our list, they are much closer so there is that advantage. An older brother of one of his baseball teammates is already playing there plus one of the offensive lineman from our sons HS team that is one year older is signed there although he is on a mission right now. And of course Boise is a better program, more successful at this point so the odds are good he would have gone there if he’d been offered. It was close but that it how it is in recruiting.

We had almost the same experience with the university of Utah, in fact they told us they were going to offer him, and the very same day that kid from the university of Texas announced he would transfer to Utah and that changed things a bit although my son decided to commit to Hawaii the day after that anyway so it kind of ended mutually. Kyle still came down to his HS a couple of days later and got him out of class and said they were still interested but my son told him he was committed to Hawaii and wasn’t gonna chance his mind. In fact we cancelled official visits to Appalachian st were we were headed that Friday, Tulane the next week, and Houston the week after because he’d committed to Hawaii. All offered him and I was bummed because I wanted to take the trips but he said he wasn’t gonna change his mind and that was that.
