Do we really want an environment where openly racist views are “normalized” and
treated as viable and reasonable, given weight equal to other alternatives? Where community leaders can try to convince children and less educated or less intelligent adults to embrace discriminatory views and policies, without consequence? This has been tried many times in the past, and it doesn’t end well.

I am glad that there is social pressure to be “politically correct” and not embrace or preach racist views openly, with impunity. People have the right to believe and say whatever nonsense they choose, but they shouldn’t be protected from experiencing the consequences of verbalizing extremist views, including public ridicule and pushback. For all its flaws, I prefer this to the type of un-PC environment and culture that led to segregation, Jim Crow, Nazi Germany, etc.
