I am by no means "old". Turned 35 this year and am stronger than I have ever been, but I can start to feel some of the old age stuff creeping in. Little twinges and tweaks here and there seem to take a few days longer to recover from. I been very cautious as I view my fitness as a marathon, not a sprint.
I hope to be squatting and deadlifting well into my 50s if not 60s. Because of this, I am trying to do a lot of preventative work now. Dynamic warm ups, lifting belt, proper shoes, knee/elbow sleeves, etc. The program I am on is the first that I've ever done with a programed in deload week (every 5 weeks) and boy it is nice. I still workout during the week, but I do only 9 sets per day (3 exercises) at about 65% 1RM on the compounds. I got a bit lighter on the ancillary stuff too.
Anyway, happy fitness Friday! I encourage you guys to start thinking about your future and take a bit of rest/deload week every so often!
