This wasn’t exactly backhanded or s compliment. A comment which has just left me scratching my head.

Me: Talking about a gay man who is a good friend who just publicly came out in my ward.
Girl: “...wow... I would have never thought he was gay”
Me: “Yep. I didn’t know for a long time. It surprised me too”

Girl: “just to let you know..... I have never thought you were gay.... your roommate, maybe. You, never”

Like a bozo, I didn’t ask what that meant, since then she has moved. And now; I can’t help but think what the heck she meant by that.

Was she reassuring me in my sexuality? Do other people think I’m gay? Is my wardrobe enough for her to know? Has she seen “evidence” I’m not gay?

Literally 100 questions... so who’s with me? Backhanded compliments? Left field comments?
