I believe you're right that there is a limit. But as far as block vs. recip ignore, I think that's different words for

what amounts to the same thing. With the one user I know of that has blocked (or recip ignored) me, I can't see his posts at all. He can't see mine either. Yet he initiated this. It wasn't mod forced. So, it works exactly as you described for the recip ignore.

If there were a user that particularly annoyed you, yes you could place them on ignore so you don't see their posts

I thought only mods could do recip ignores. You can block someone from interacting with you at all.

Manage Ignores on the menu dropdown on your username. Then search for the user you want to ignore
