So...is it better to be a realist/pessimist fan than an optimistic one?
I get that "fans" come in all shapes/sizes/flavors...and no one can/should legislate fandom...but I honestly have questions.

Does it make losses less painful to be a realist/pessimist?
Conversely...does it dilute such a fan's enjoyment of a big...dramatic....unexpected BYU win to publicly stake out a position like that pre-game?

If you call for a BYU loss and are proven correct...are you happy they lost so you could be proven correct? Or are you happy and willing to eat crow when you are wrong?
