Mr. Belding The easy way out
I’ve been critical of Kalani. And he still hasn’t earned my trust. But he did say two things in his interview that I
liked.

1. He said it was a stupid decision to not go for the field goal. He did it because he was “being selfish and being a fan”. I’m glad he realizes that. I think a lot of his coaching mistakes have been because he’s more of a fan or cheerleader than a coach. I feel like those mistakes are becoming less and maybe it’s because he realizes it and admits that it is wrong. So I hope he continues to improve in this area.

2. He said he let his coordinators and coaches do their jobs and he stayed out of their way. That’s what made LaVell so great. He needs to be a manager and not get overly involved in certain things. I thought the play calling for both offense and defense were better yesterday than usual. Maybe it’s because he’s giving them more freedom?

I hope he continues to improve. He’s a great guy. The game yesterday was probably the most fun since he became coach. I wasn’t bored. Win or lose next week I just want it to be fun BYU football. Go Cougs.
