I feel like play-calling etc is getting better ...
...I like that he's staying aggressive with the vertical passing game and I think he's doing a better job in figuring out how to move his team through the red zone and keep drives going. I also think that he's starting to realize that Ty'son Williams is a weapon that he needs to used more than once or twice a quarter (I'd like to see him get Ty'son 20 carries a game minimum and also see him used in the passing game more as a target out of the backfield).

Through 3 games though I'm not convinced that Zach Wilson's decision making when they run RPO is where it needs to be. Now that his big play/playmaking ability is being compared to Johnny Manziel I worry he'll try even more to be a one man show.

Also, one nit-picky issue with play calling on Saturday is with Grimey wanting to run the gimmick goal line play the 2nd time (the one with Austin Kafentzis as the QB, Khyiris Tonga as a fullback/lead block and Dayan Ghanwoloku as the tailback). First time worked great because they weren't prepared or expecting it and it threw their D into a little bit of hesitation on what was going on. But when we tried to run it on the 4th and 1 play in the 4th Q and USC called a Timeout to get their subs in and then we tried to run it again right after but the refs stopped the play to announce that USC didn't get the chance to sub and so they wouldn't be charged a T.O. AND THEN we tried to run it again after that and didn't get the 1st down when we should've kicked the FG and taken the points in a tight game.

I have some bones with this play. It works when it catches opposing teams off guard but as we saw when the opposing D sees it and knows it's coming it's not that effective. Also, when we ran it against Utah last year it was a nice twist having Dayan be the ball carrier but to be honest, it's not like he's a special goal line talent and a threat to score or anything and that it has to be him or the play doesn't work. I think it would be better if it was an experienced offensive player running it or maybe give it to Tonga to bust through like the Chicago Bears used to do with the Fridge.

I thought it was a bad call to keep trying it over and over when the element of surprise was no longer in play.
