I was at the game on Saturday and a man pushing a wheelchair comes up to me and
Gets in my face. My daughter and I were standing there minding our own business. It’s about 20 minutes before game time. “You’re standing in my way!” He exclaims, as my daughter and I turn to him somewhat befuddled by his unelicited aggression. I don’t think I had any idea he wanted us to move until he began yelling at us. There were a bunch of people standing around before the game.

I felt bad for him and figured he probably has had a really hard day, and probably a hard life too considering it looked like he was pushing a 20-something year old daughter who may have had developmental issues (can’t be certain) in her wheel chair.

He was angry. I would have gladly moved for him had I known, and a simple “excuse me” would have been effective. Now I can sometimes get baited into things and I know this about myself. I started out by saying, “Hey, you don’t need to yell.” But instantly I just wanted to comfort him or help him in anyway I could. I moved the folding chairs out of the way so he could get the wheel chair in place. And I tried to move it over to a place where he could sit. He again yelled at me and said, “ Hey, that’s my chair!”

I calmly said, “I just want to help you get seated. Can I help with anything?”

“I can do it myself!”

Anyway, not sure exactly what was eating at him. I imagine he runs into jerks and was annoyed seeing myself and my little girl standing there. Maybe he expected a confrontation. But I’m not that way and would like to think I’d have responded well to a friendlier introduction.

If you’re on this board, I hope the day ended up well for you. Sure was a good game. I doubt you remember this but in the event you do, there are no hard feelings.
