I've known many parents who take your approach and regret it, and the research
Data supports my position...social media and smartphones are hazardous to teen health. It should be delayed as long as possible. We make kids wait until 16 to drive and some countries longer. I think we should wait at least that long for smartphones. I think last year of high school is best for full data plans with restrictions and graduated steps before then (there are plans with just talk & text and a very minuscule data amount for example).

Their brains just aren't ready when they are young. If you could engineer the perfect addictive drug for young teens and how their brains are wired it might be social media and phones. Be wise... delay as long as you can and your teen will be so much healthier.
