I work with three people who I consider doctors
Two are chiropractors and one has a doctorate in chemical engineering. All three of them don’t insist I call them doctor in social settings, but in a professional setting I do refer to each of them as doctor or if I’m referring to any of them I call them a doctor. They have earned it by their education and professional work. But I’m also comfortable with my own career so no need to feel anything especially jealousy towards anyone’s title or career.
