I'm not big on titles for the most part and don't use the title doctor in my
professional setting, but if someone with a doctor's level degree wants to be called doctor in their workplace, they've earned the right to be referred to by the title of doctor in that setting. They earned it with several years of graduate work. So suck it up and call them doctor or look for a new dentist who doesn't care what you call him or her.
