I had a feeling things were not going to go well based on the pre-game show on KSL
I had to drop my daughter off at a cheer thing and wait for her on Saturday which allowed me to listen to the entire long pre game show on the radio. As they played interviews from players and coaches about the week of preparation they all kept talking about having fun, being relaxed, having a good time, fun, fun, fun. No one said hard practice, serious practice, getting focused.

Honestly I thought to myself that this was not the week for fun, fun, fun. It was a week for focus, discipline, accountability.

Their comments of fun were such a strong theme that Riley Nelson eventually had to say - just because they are talking about how fun the week was doesn’t mean they were not preparing and doing what they need to get ready for Washington.

I honestly believe we have a cultural problem. These coaches should have had these players laser focused on this game, their assignments and accountability. Why would this be the week to relax and have fun?? We saw the results of a week of fun instead of focus. You think Nick Sabin was trying to foster a week of fun? I love Kalani’s fun relaxed personality but I’m not sure it works if you want to compete at the highest level with athletes that have to rely on execution to overcome an athleticism disadvantage.

I think Broncos hard line approach worked the way it should.
