My wife and I have been debating going through the adoption process. We have three kids. Doctors have recommended that my wife not have any more. We feel like we want to adopt, but are struggling with long-term hope. We know of lots of heartbreaking stories and very few 'success' stories (acknowledging that 'success' is a relative term).
For example, I have five cousins in several different families that are adopted and none of the five have graduated from college or remain active in the church. All their siblings have successful careers and are active. Another example, I have a co-worker that has several biological kids and then two adopted kids. The biological kids are successful by any measure; the two adopted kids have been in and out of drug rehabs ever since they were teens and their four kids are currently living with their nearly-retired grandparents.
Any success stories out there?
