Do you clean out the inside of your rear differential when you change your fluid
My daughter's car has a leaking gasket on the differential cover. I'm putting a new gasket on tonight. When I pulled the differential cover off, the inside of the differential is dirtier than I normally expect to see. Is it safe to use brake cleaner on the inside of the differential to clean it up, or do you just bolt the cover back on without cleaning it and refill the fluid
