I finally got my 7-year old hooked on the NBA last spring........
After years of trying to get his older brother or him interested in football or basketball, I took them to a Jazz game last spring and it finally clicked with the younger one. He spent all summer asking when we could go watch the Jazz play again and even watched several old Jazz games that I had on the DVR.

So, wanting to keep this rolling, I got us tickets to go to the Jazz-Bucks game on November 8th (perfect storm - it's on a Friday night, and the Cougs play Liberty the next day, so we get two games for one trip to Utah). He has a million questions about the game - including, who is the best player on the Bucks?

Here's the funny part - I tell him all about Giannis Antekagrblrbradiing%& - even show him some YouTube clips, and now Giannis has taken on like this mythical super-villain role in his eyes. Last night he tells me that he's not sure that he still wants to go to the game, because "there's no way that the Jazz can win - the Freak will just dunk the ball every time and knock it away when we try to make baskets". I'm trying to convince him that Milwaukee may have the BEST player in the game, but the Jazz will have a better team, but he wasn't convinced. He decided that MAYBE Donovan Mitchell had grown since last summer and might be as tall as the Freak now. (He's pretty sure that the most important thing in basketball is just being tall). I told him that was unlikely, but then reminded him that Rudy Gobert is TALLER than Giannis. That got him feeling better enough that he's excited to go to the game again.

Good times.
