I can think of only a couple of truly highly recruited guys that it would have made a difference to based on what I have heard from coaches and families. I can tell only tell you with certainty of one that would have in the past few years.

The biggest reason the big fish aren't going to BYU is they wanna play football and get to the league. Most don't want a hard class load and some really just don't want an honor code at all. We've seen Stanford swoop in and grab a few of those that don't mind the academic burden which I also don't see changing. This really wouldn't change in a P5 conference.

Those of you that don't agree, tell me specifically who we didn't get that you think we would have past 5 years because we weren't in a conference.
