- Nothing to say about Kalani because I have no idea what he does anymore. He’s not calling plays but I also don’t see him leading in any sort of capacity. He looks out of place and really over his head.

- Grimes play calling was absolutely horrendous. When BYU went to hurry up they moved the ball, but when they got into the RZ they ditched it. Why? They successfully ran it for two drives and then abandoned it the rest of the game. His use of the jet sweep today was really really bad. The receivers weren’t blocking on the outside and for some reason our guys thought they were going to outrun some South Florida kids around the corner. Good luck with that. All around really poor offensive showing from a team coming off a bye week. Terrible preparation.

- Tuiaki just sucks. For who/what we have on the DL he is running a defense that is getting roasted on the line but the LB’s are nowhere to be found. No pass rush or blitzing of any sort. There’s just no way to justify him being a DC at any level.

- Based on what I saw I’m not sure Jaren is a better QB than Romney. Jaren obviously has the wheels but his decision making was odd and aside from a couple of passes his ball wasn’t great. Romney looked poised given the circumstances and showed he’s got a pretty clean arm. He overthrew on a pass or two but not egregious enough IMO.

- The OL is a mess. Mateos talks a big talk but his guys have no fight. They’re blocking the wrong guys consistently and the RB’s aren’t doing a great job at finding the holes to hit because of that. There is no reason for why they shouldn’t be able to give their QB’s 3+ seconds back there and yet without fail they are getting manhandled. There is little to no pocket for the QB to step into because these guys are getting so blown up.

- The Safeties are really no good. Lee has his moments but my goodness Beau Tanner should never be trusted on the field. Not sure why we moved Sawyer Powell to Safety from LB (I thought he was pretty good) but his lack of speed and awareness on deep balls shows why he should’ve stayed at LB.

So many problems on the team and they all start at the top. Thanks for the occasional fun wins Kalani. I don’t know about you but if your plan is for guys to “have fun” then may I suggest winning? I have a whole lot more fun when I’m winning at anything.

I’ve been a supporter of these coaches from day 1, but it’s clear that Kalani just doesn’t have what it takes to win. I gave Kalani a ton of credit for firing Detmer, that takes stones, but now it’s time for Tom to step up and show that he has the guts to do what he knows he should by letting Sitake go. I’m just sad to be losing Steward, the rest can go kick rocks for all I care.
