We would obviously struggle in MWC play this year as well. That's why I believe we have to soften the September schedule. If we hadn't played against talent so difficult in September, we would have fewer injuries and a reduced emotional "hangover" we experience with our last second wins. And we mostly win that way against P5 teams.

But I just think it would help the trajectory to have a way to see how we're performing year in and year out. It's difficult to do that in independence.

But you're absolutely right when you point out that we would have fewer resources and perhaps our recruiting pool would be different. But BYU would be more like a Boise State, and you can't argue with their success.
