Here’s an attempt at a grading scale based on a stab at full season grading I posted a while back:
Baseline for simple win-loss results:
A
4-2 or better
B
3-3
C
2-4
D
1-5
F
0-6
Results that move BYU up a partial step on the grading scale (e.g. B to B+):
Win vs Utah
Win vs ranked team
2+ wins at LaVell Edwards Stadium
Results that move BYU down a partial step on the grading scale (e.g. B to B–):
Loss to Utah
Loss to unranked G5 team
2+ losses at LaVell Edwards Stadium
BYU’s record through six games: 2-4
Unadjusted grade through six games: C
Adjusted grade through six games: D
Win over USC moves BYU to C+
Loss to Utah moves BYU to C
Loss to Toledo moves BYU to C–
Loss to USF moves BYU to D+
2+ home losses move BYU to D
Honestly I think a D grade is pretty generous for what I’ve seen on the field in five of the six games this season.
Winning both of the next two games would set BYU up for a decent grade on the season but it’s not looking good.
