Four thoughts:
1. Tithing funds do not need to be touched for BYU sports to be supported properly. I don’t work in the accounting department but come on, finding resources should never be a question.
2. If what you say is true regarding the School’s president, they have the wrong person at the the wheel.
3. Of course BYU football is a missionary tool. If it wasn’t, we would be back in the Mountain West. Independence Has given the program a broader audience. Do you think the church and school have taken the football team into independence so alumni on the East Coast can watch football. Just saying that sounds silly.
4. You and President Worthlen must not watch much BYU football on ESPN because the the broadcast crews covering the games almost always address the purpose of independence and the football team being a beacon of the church’s missionary efforts.
