First, we live in the internet age so what can you really expect other than for people to vent and discuss online.
Second, BYU football is not anywhere close to being on life support and no one (other than some corner cases) wants to pull the plug. Sitake's tenure is in fact on life support, but Sitake's tenure is not the same as BYU football. And it should be on life support. This is a man whose tenure started to turn when he decided to run a fake punt on 4th and 19 from the two yard line and has since included the worst season and many of the worse losses is modern BYU history. He has had opportunity after opportunity to right the ship. He has failed.
Third, both these articles act like fans' expectations are unreasonable. No one with a living brain cell in his head seriously expects BYU to be Alabama or Clemson. Most of us recognize that we're at a disadvantage compared to Utah. But nothing is preventing us from having a program that can score more than 27 points in a game (in regulation), particularly against very weak competition. Nothing is preventing us from having a team that can score points in the redzone. Nothing is preventing us from having a team that can score points in the first quarter. Nothing is preventing us from running QB sneaks on third and fourth and short more than one time in a season. Nothing is preventing us from having a team that can stop the run.
Fourth, our recruiting disadvantage is way overstated. We do not have an "Ivy League recruiting pool." We are on the list of virtually every LDS kid, and we're on the top of that list for many of them. That pool is sufficient to field a respectable team.
