The more I learn about Jay Hill the more I like him as a candidate for next head coach
Hired as Weber State's head coach in 2014 and they've gone from dumpster fire to annual FCS contender.
The two years before he took over:
2012: 2-9 overall, 2-7 in FCS, 2-6 in conf (12th in Big Sky)
2013: 2-10 overall, 2-8 in FCS, 1-7 in conf (12th)
Since he took over (good-looking trends):
2014: 2-10 overall, 2-9 in FCS, 2-6 in conf (10th)
2015: 6-5 overall, 6-4 in FCS, 5-3 in conf (4th)
2016: 7-5 overall, 7-4 in FCS, 6-2 in conf (3rd - lost in 1st round of FCS playoffs)
2017: 11-3 overall, 11-2 in FCS, 7-1 in conf (1st - lost in quarterfinals)
2018: 10-3 overall, 10-2 in FCS, 7-1 in conf (1st - lost in quarterfinals)
2019: 4-2 overall, 4-0 in FCS, 1-0 in conf (TBD)
In the last 3 years, his winning % against FCS opponents is 86%. In the two years before he took over Weber State had a 21% winning% vs. FCS opponents.
His only losses this year were by six to San Diego St and Nevada, respectively.
He has a defensive background, but his offenses have been pretty solid at around 32 ppg vs. FCS opponents.
