It's probably a better example than you want to admit.
Weber State has had ups and downs. They haven't ever been "great", but they've been in the playoffs and had some pretty good runs.
Before Jay Hill arrived, they actually were considering dropping football altogether.
BYU can withstand some down years. I'm sure that having a few stinker years in a row would impact attendance. But I think more of BYU admin and fans than to believe that if "the next coach" struggles, they would just close up shop as the next step. That's crazy talk.
