People who do know him personally and who have asked him about BYU...
...specifically have said that he is not interested in the job.
The combination of challenges (Honor Code, academic standards, high number of missionaries, unrealistic fan expectations) combined don't outweigh the benefits. He's told people who have asked that he would be flattered, but would wait for a different opportunity.
