But I have a very good source that says he’s not gonna be interested. Too many road blocks. At some point we have to realize that BYU isn’t for everyone. Even Kalani wanted the BOT to know he wanted to be a football coach and not a “mission president”. The next coach will request exceptions to enrollment requirements and that probably won’t happen. It will limit the pool of candidates.
Many will say Jay is stupid to not take 4-5 times his current salary but there are too many problems for someone that isn’t tied to the school. His daughter goes to BYU but that’s about where it ends. He’s got his sights on a major P5 program and most likely feels that a MWC school is most likely a better fit for that trajectory right now.
