Whoa, hold on a minute. Tuiaki's defensive coaching experience prior to BYU was
2006 - Linebackers coach at Kearns High School
2008 - Graduate defensive assistant
2013, 2014 - Defensive line at Utah
2015 - Linebackers at Oregon State
Five total years of defensive coaching at any level, three with any real significance? And we brought him to a high-level college program to run the entire defense for the first time with a coach who was trying out the head coaching thing for the first time as well? (Not to mention Grimes as a first-year offensive coordinator)
I love Kalani and really want the best for him but this is a head scratcher for sure.
