Just out of curiosity -
How long have you been a college football coach? How much time have you spent looking at different pathways to coaching at a bigger school? How many other HC's and assistant coaches have you talked to about what it's like to coach at different schools? How much time have you spent looking at pro's and con's of each? Barriers to success? Challenges that you may or may not be willing to deal with?

Completely unrelated to that - have you ever taken a job that paid less because it involved less drama and/or fewer headaches and unrealistic expectations? I have. Much happier - even with less money.

I don't know all the details. I don't know how he would actually respond if/when the offer were ever to be made. All I know is that two different people I know who are close to Jay Hill have said that in speaking with him about it, he's told them that BYU is not a "great job". Too many challenges, too many unrealistic expectations, he's happy where he is and is content to stay there until the right job comes along. But for him, BYU is not that job.

Will he actually pass if BYU were offered him? No one knows until it is. But he's told people that he would pass.
