We are very seldom happy with our coaches and assistant coaches for very long if at all. Then everyone starts throwing these wonderful names around: Andy Reid as an example. What on earth would convince any good coach to currently come to BYU and start digging out from the mess? The opportunity comes with more problems than benefits. Lower pay. If the coach is really good, he will gain a higher salary somewhere else without all the inherent difficulties and problems. Add to that, the strict entrance requirements for students both in Academics and personal habits and traits.

The only option is to hit the lottery with a relatively unknown coach or junior college coach ( I realize Dixie is not junior-college but it is only one notch above) Peterson for example. If BYU wins the lottery, the money will all be spent in a relatively short number of years before one of the big boys comes and offers more than BYU would ever be willing to match. I don't see this very likely.

I'm not sure there are even any excellent coaches out there that would be approved by the BOT currently and willing to work in a harder job for less money! Maybe I'm missing something, but I've been around a long time and not sure how this is going to be rectified.
