So what we think may work is giving our daughter a phone and taking nearly all of its functions away so it is really just a phone. The kid can then pretend to have a smartphone. it’s simply a status thing and at that age, life is rough...might be nice to ease their pain. However, if your kid is not reliable, you could see their usage escalate as they find ways around the technology or you simply don’t have time to monitor it closely or they figure out your passcodes.
