Just realized I’ve been to 5 home games the past 3 years and only one win.
The other four were not close. You could argue that the Cal game was, but the Bears controlled that game from the tip last year. I’m tired of paying for tickets to these games to watch us get destroyed on our home field game after game. They have often not even been competitive.

Our guys are out-manned, out-funded, out-coached, and out-scheduled right now. I blame the administration more than the coaches, who are trying their best with a bad situation. They aren’t great coaches, but the school put them in that position by refusing to provide sufficient resources, and then throwing them out to play a top 25 strength of schedule. I’m not sure if we are a major university or PBS, because it’s kind of pathetic we wouldn’t even have gotten a coach like Kilani without major donors ponying up big money. Think about that for a moment... the school itself would not pay enough even to hire a guy with no head coaching experience whatsoever, and then he had to go bug more donors to get enough for a staff with almost no experience at their respective positions. Is it really a huge mystery that we are terrible?

They set Ty Detmer up to fail by throwing the guy out there who hadn’t played football in 20 years and asking him to develop an offense by himself in a completely new era. He had never even been a position coach before being given the second most responsibility of anyone over a D-1 program... and Kilani frankly was learning head coaching on the fly and couldn’t be an effective mentor.

I’m just very frustrated with the program right now. I don’t believe Kilani is willing to fire Tuiaki because he doesn’t have the ability to handle all of his responsibilities on his own in addition to being a head coach. I don’t know if many understand just how much our d-coordinator is being asked to do, and I don’t know how Kilani can take that on mid-season when the entire team is a mess that needs addressing. He is completely in over his head right now, and frankly should not be in this position to begin with. All those mad at Kilani should re-direct that to those writing the checks. And not the donors.

Just venting my frustration. It’s my wife’s birthday on Saturday, and for the first time this year we will not be attending the game. I hope BYU gets a win for her. I don’t see much good in losses unless those in charge become more willing to take action enough to change this program’s direction and trajectory.
