My wife was bored with her job, so she went and found a different job and put in 2 weeks notice at her old job.
A few days later the old company did a round of layoffs, and they let my wife go in those reductions even though she had already told them that she was quitting. Everybody that was laid off got 8 weeks severance. So my wife got an unexpected severance package for a job that she had already given notice that she was quitting.
