I think he went for it because we were up by 3 pts and had 3 TOs left, so even
if we didn’t make it, we had a decent chance of holding them to a FG and either going to OT or getting a last-second FG of our own to win. Had we been up by 2 pts, or 4 pts, then I think he probably would have punted.
I’m sure the fact that BSU moved the ball so easily on the previous possession played into it too. But probably so did the fact that we had held them to a bunch of 3- and 4-play drives during the game, including their 2nd-to-last possession.
