I think this is a factor.
After Boise's first drive the rain and wind picked up. Any drive for either side heading north after that was rough. Boise's 1st/3rd Q's and BYU's 2nd/4th Q's were not great. That wind was the worst part of the weather for the fans in the stands, especially for those nearest to the NW corner.
