...players really stepped up though and were difference makers. It was a total team effort from coaches on down.
Tyler Allgier led the defense with 9 tackles, he was playing RB a few weeks ago. We had 7 PBU's as a team, can't remember the last time we had that many in a game.
Khyiris was a difference maker up front and finished with 5 tackles. Monster game and we likely lose the game without his extra push on that 4th and 1 call with 2 minutes left. He (by himself) shoved that pile forward several feet. Impressive! Great games also by Fauatea and El-Bakri (the DL really showed up).
INT's by both Kaufusi brothers (Isaiah and Jackson)
stellar coverage by Isaiah Herron (2 pbu's) and he got ripped off on the one PI call or he would've had 3 PBU's. helped hold their stud WR Hightower to 2 catches for a miniscule 11 yds.
Both Bushman and Shumway stepped up to make multiple big catches. Kudos for Bushman finally breaking the 100 yd mark (and for 2 TD catches!)
Sione Finau nearly had 100 yds rushing in his first meaningful action
2nd/3rd string guys stepped in and stepped up big on the OL. Blake Freeland and Clark Barrington started on the right side and played really well.
It was very encouraging to see the team step it up. Now we just need Kalani and staff to maintain this and not relax again and ease back on the throttle. He and his staff need to do a better job keeping the edge on this team and keeping their focus razor sharp.
