At the game, the fan two rows in front of me yelled that the refs were "freaking retarded".

I have a daughter with Down syndrome. I don't use that word, but I realize there are some in this world who are ignorant and still do. I don't correct people or make a big deal when they use it. In my mind they just look silly and uneducated.

My cousin's boyfriend (they both have down syndrome) was sitting right in front of me. I kind of froze, and chose to ignore what had been said and hoped the boy friend hadn't heard.. I have replayed it a few times in my mind, but I still haven't decided how I should have reacted...thoughts?
