The argument that having more than an 8-team playoff would render the regular season meaningless makes no sense. Below is a list of the percentage of teams in each league making the playoffs. If FBS football were to expand to a 32-team playoff it would still only be allowing 25% of the teams in — less than any of the pro leagues and slightly more than FCS football and D1 Basketball. A 16-team playoff would only be 12%.
