I think that the coaches may try to re-recruit you to keep you - but if you go into the portal anyway, then there's probably a pretty good chance that the coaches are done with you. I'd be surprised if they wanted to set the precedent that players could go ahead and put their name in the portal and see if the grass is greener - knowing that they have a soft landing if they don't get a better offer. As a coach, I'd be concerned about the number of kids entering the portal increasing just to test those waters and see if they've played well enough in a backup role to get an offer at a bigger school or in a bigger conference. Not something the coaches want to encourage.
