RE: Like I said, excel is good for something quick. No self-resepcting person
In my current job and in my last job I have built spreadsheets in excel that have solved problems that the company would have had to pay a lot of money to a software company to achieve. Then I shared the files with co-workers that only had a very basic knowledge of Excel and they used them with no problem.

Probably more impressive is what my wife recently did in Google sheets with a company that was out of compliance with some FDA laws. Her google spreadsheet provided them a way to quickly become compliant saving them a lot of time and money.

All of these spreadsheets were NOT built for data analytics, but they were simple and usable by a wide number of people.

I'm looking into R and Python today. They look interesting, but with my very limited amount of spare time, and without having any problems to solve that can't quickly be done with Excel or Google Sheets I'm not going to spend the time learning how to write code. Perhaps in the future when I need something more robust than Excel I will learn how to use them.
