The hype train was massive.
I never know how good Utah is, I am jaded by the fact that I grew up watching Chuck Stobart and Jim Fassell coached teams and even with Mac and Whitt, seen too many losses that should have been wins.
That said, football is all about matchups. Utah will always struggle to match up against USC wideouts. The abuse that USC has delivered to our secondary over the years is very well documented. Truthfully, I don’t think that the outcome of that game was a fluke. But I also don’t think that tells us almost anything about Utah. I think it says more about USC and how badly they are under-performing.
USC has enough talent to beat nearly anybody on a given Saturday. Unfortunately, they don’t do it with enough consistency to be relevant.
