because the orthodontists that they met with here in the US wanted to wait until the kid was older and his wife wanted to fix it now (the kid is 8 and just barely lost his last child tooth). The orthodontist in Taiwan was happy to do it and ordered all of the devices (made in California) for them and they picked them up on a trip there. When it’s done they have to go back for him to do a final checkup.
