One thing that just astonishes me is how defensive coaches can watch film and not change.
Nearly every time they decide to rush more than three, the play results in little or no gain.

Against Boise State, they decided to get more aggressive - and it worked!

Against USU Sitake allowed Tuiaki to go back to his junior high defense and it worked. Keep in mind the Aggies racked up 521 yards on offense and Love threw for 394. The USU game was fool’s gold and it worked only because Jordan Love made mistake after mistake.

It’s completely baffling how these guys can watch film and NOT see how ineffective their ridiculous scheme is.

I get that the D is really young and lacks experience but I firmly believe the talent is there. The fact that BYU could hold USU to 14 points while giving up over 500 yards is attributable to the players’ talent in spite of the horrific scheme.

Prior to playing BYU, Liberty averaged 445 yards total offense and 144 yards rushing; with an incredibly poor SOS of 143. Against BYU? 521 yards total offense, and 165 rush yards.

How does this happen?

I just can’t understand how these coaches can watch game film week after week and then trot out the same lazy drop 8 alignment allowing the worst teams in FBS to run all over them. It makes no sense at all.

I can think of only one explanation and quite frankly it’s frightening.
