I've heard from two different source who would know that Yoeli originally had no intention of coming back to BYU. One if the two sources even insinuated that Child's knew about the paperwork but did not bother to file it until he was rerecruited by Pope and changed his mind.

I still think the length of the suspension was far too long, especially considering that no harm was done and a the athlete paid back the money and the decision was to return to school.

But if Yoeli had just done the paperwork when he declared, we wouldn't be talking about this.
