Liberty lost to Rutgers 44-34 and to Syracuse 24-0. Rutgers dropped 44 on Liberty. Syracuse blanked Liberty. Syracuse and Rutgers combined have 0 wins against FBS teams this season not named UMASS, Liberty, or Western Michigan (pointed out to me by WeekendWarrior). Rutgers lost by a combined score of 117-0 to Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan. Maryland beat Rutgers 48-7, the same Maryland team that just lost to Ohio State by the score of 73-14. So, the team that gave up 73 to Ohio State beat the team that beat Liberty by 10, by 40. Syracuse beat Liberty 24-0. Syracuse lost to Maryland by 43 points. So Rutgers and Syracuse, 2 garbage teams that have 0 notable wins against FBS teams combined this season, had better performances against Liberty than BYU. So did LA-Lafayette, as they beat Liberty 35-14.
Ohio State = 59 points better than Maryland = 41 points better than Rutgers = 10 points better than Liberty = only 7 points worse than BYU. Our performance was so poo poo, on par with some of the worst FBS teams in the country, and it feels bad to perform worse than Rutgers, Syracuse, and LA-Lafayette.
Anyway you look at it, our performance was garbage. Syracuse and Rutgers combined have not beaten a real FBS team this season. We've beat several solid FBS teams. That is why it felt so icky. It was the Toledo and USF games all over again, except we managed to win because their one play maker aside from Buckshot happened to drop one pass at the right/wrong time.
It was the same kind of game like we had against Portland State, the year that we went 4-9 and lost to UMASS at home.
