that the violence that is currently in Mexico, not just in Chihuahua, but even Sonora and all around, is anything close to what we have here in the US is just silly. Yep, we have dangerous cities here in the US. I do avoid them.

But crossing the border into Mexico is a different thing entirely. Reading kotacoug's description of the care you need to take tells you this isn't just a pleasure drive. And, pretending that the recent violence is so far away it's not a concern is just kind of dumb.

I speak Spanish too, like you. The only advantage that gives me if somebody stops my vehicle is I'll understand the things they're planning to do to me.
