Do you guys really think TH and BOT care as much about the losses to USF and
Toledo, as much as many fans on CB do?

I think the answer is they don't. As long as BYU runs a clean program and carriers the banner for the church and can have a record above .500 most years, they are happy with the results. More importantly, they are happy with the revenue coming in from the TV contract with ESPN. That money funds the other sports in the Athletic Department which I think the BOT also sees as a missionary tool for the University and the Church.

TH has stated the goal of the FB program is to land in a P5 conference. I think the only reason for that goes back to money, which BYU can use to expand the athletic department so they can advance the missionary work the AD does.

Their goal of getting into the P5 isn't to compete for the college playoff or a NY6 bowl. It's the money, pure and simple. I am not saying it's a bad thing. Ultimately, the results on the field are not as important as doing things the "BYU way". The fact that the HC has to a temple worthy member coach, assistants and players have to follow the HC is far more significant to the AD and BOT than what our results on the field are.

Once again, the schedule that TH has put together isn't for the benefit of the FB program, it's nothing more than to maximize revenue from ESPN to complete the mission listed above.

The point of this whole thing is why should we as fans care more about who we lose to than the people in charge making the decisions?

They realize an undefeated season or even a 10 win season is probably out of our grasp especially the next few years with the way the schedules are lined up.

Why do we place all the pressure of the FB program on KS when he's doing the best he can with the mission that the AD and BOT have given him? He is limited in his recruiting, who he can hire as coaches, and has no say in who we play. The next 2 years he is facing a suicide mission. If we somehow we stagger out of those seasons even with a winning record, hats off the KS. I think he has done a lot of good this season as well. He wants to be here and we don't have lines of people wanting to sign up as coach especially with the tough schedules ahead.
