There's no way a $4k UTMA is going to generate over $1k of earnings. I'm guessing there aren't other funds factoring
in here.
Also, regarding the fact that the kid gets the money at the age of majority, in this settlement the money already is his and should be able to be accessed how he wants at age 18.
