My 1st grader's gym teacher broke my son's arm in gym class a month ago.
They were playing soccer and my son tried to block his teacher's kick into the goal. It ended up fracturing my son's radius and he had to get a cast on (just got it removed on Monday). The gym teacher was absolutely devastated. When my wife went to pick up my son from school to take him to the doctor she said the teacher's face was completely white and he looked like he was going to throw up. He of course apologized profusely. He ended up taking a day off school and then called us to apologize again profusely. We reassured him that it was a fluke accident, nobody's fault, and that we weren't upset with him at all. We are much happier that our son has a fun, engaging, and active gym teacher who will go out and play with the kids than to have a sanitized version of gym where there is no risk of injury.
