Just a rant: the hardest part of my job as a prosecutor is deciding what to do
On child sex/molestation abuse cases. My options are either go to trial and force these young kids to relive some of the worst moments of their lives and watch them as defense attorneys beat up on them over it. Or settle them out for less time than what they deserve to save the kid from that experience. I settled one today with much less time than the guy deserves because the parents of the little boy don’t want him to go through it again on the stand. Granted he is in his 70s so he will at minimum be in his 80s when he gets out and hopefully he dies in prison. But I also just have in the back of my mind this is his second conviction and if the first prosecutor 20 years ago had gotten him put away for life we wouldn’t be here today and who knows if their additional victims.

Anyways that’s my rant it’s the worst part of my job.
