(For all of you Jazz fans, yes my Nuggets lost at home to the Hawks. Young was amazing and Denver at times looked like they didn't want to be there. Jokic couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.)

Anyway, I told my daughter that he was Mormon and thought about a few things.

1. If he had gone to BYU he would be beloved by BYU fans and cheered in every arena that he goes to.
2. I'm not sure he could have reached Jimmer status, but he would have a national following that was keeping track of him.
3. He is simply not a great pro. He seems like he isn't in the best of shape for an NBA player, but has the size, quickness and skill to be more.
4. I appreciate that (to my knowledge) he has lived his religion. That isn't easy to do.
5. What would he have become had he gone to BYU? I don't know the answer but I don't think he would have had a worse pro career.
6. The next time someone says they want to do good for our religion by going to another school they are simply fooling themselves. You can do good anywhere, that is true. But based on history you can do the most good at BYU. Jimmer, Ainge, Steve Young...etc are all great examples of this. I bet less than 5% of the fans at the game knew he was a member of the Church. Had he simply gone to BYU I bet that number jumps up significantly.
7. Don't get me wrong I don't blame Jabari for what he did, he did what I think the majority would do. I just look back and wonder if it was the best decision for him and if he still feels it was. He would have been a legend at BYU. Now he is just known mostly for being a bust. I bet he wishes Coach K would have taught him how to play defense, but lets be honest he wasn't going to get that at BYU either. 🙁
